Resort Water Safety

Using the resort's existing CCTV as its sensing layer, VLM continuously interprets what is happening across the canals, jetties, swimming pools and children's splash pools: falls into water, approaching the water alone, a child separated from supervision, crossing railings into restricted areas, boarding without a life jacket, and prolonged stillness underwater. Events are located on the resort digital twin in real time and pushed to the service centre and to staff mobile devices, so water safety no longer depends on lifeguard line of sight and guest reports. The scene is shared with vehicle tracking at the same resort, so a fall into water can be shown together with where the boats were at that moment. Validated at a resort in Hualien: a 2.2 km canal, 16 bridges, 7 jetties, and multiple swimming and splash pools.

VLM output

An elevated wide shot of a resort water park shows guests using a lazy river, wave/leisure pool, water slides, and a children's splash play structure, with sun loungers and umbrellas along the deck and residential buildings behind. Across the four frames, swimmers and pedestrians move slowly through the pools and over the wooden footbridge, and staff in high-visibility vests remain posted near the poolside; no incident occurs.

Customer challenges

1

Canals, jetties and waterside paths cover a wide area that lifeguard and patrol staff cannot watch at all times

2

Swimming pools and children's splash pools operate at the same time, and sight lines are easily blocked by crowds and obstacles

3

A child leaving a parent's supervision or approaching the water alone is usually noticed only after an incident

4

Boarding points and jetty waiting areas are high-risk nodes with no active monitoring

5

There are many cameras, but events are still only known once someone reviews the footage

6

Water areas are almost unwatched at night and in the early morning

7

A single drowning carries brand and legal risk far beyond the cost of any system

Customer benefits

24x7 active water protection that does not depend on lifeguard shifts

Drowning events move from after-the-fact discovery to alerts within seconds

Deployed on existing cameras, with no underwater works and little new hardware

Lower lifeguard and patrol load, with staff concentrated on high-risk periods

A digital record of water safety events for insurance and audit

Safety as a differentiator for the resort, building trust with family guests

Key features

Water Safety VLM

Detects falls into water and abnormal posture in water, approaching the water alone, crossing railings and restricted areas, a child separated from a supervising group, boarding without a life jacket, and prolonged stillness underwater in pools.

Guest Safety Detection

Detects falls and prolonged time on the ground, climbing railings and abnormal loitering on bridges and paths, and entry into areas closed at night.

Event-to-Twin Mapping

Locates events directly on the resort digital twin alongside vehicle positions, with alert rules set separately for canal sections, jetties and pools.

Incident Management

Pushes alerts in real time to the service centre and to staff mobile devices, records events automatically with timeline retention, and supports natural-language video search.
