Drone as sensor. The correlation layer across modalities: acoustic, radar, LiDAR, infrared and visual sensors — fixed on the site or carried by an aircraft — are resolved into one tracked object and one incident, with identity held as a target moves between sensors and between air and ground.

Each sensing modality is strong exactly where another is weak, yet each arrives in its own format on its own console: acoustic hears what is hidden behind a treeline but cannot localise it precisely, radar gives range and speed but little identity, LiDAR gives geometry at short range, and infrared works when nothing is visible — so run separately they produce four partial answers and four alarms, and integrating them is bespoke work repeated at every site. Targets lose identity when they cross between sensors, since the same object becomes a new detection at every device and coverage gaps break the track entirely; where the drone itself is the sensor, its own motion has to be accounted for before anything it observes can be placed on a map at all; and reconstructing what happened means aligning several recordings by hand and hoping the clocks agree.
